Extensions
Applicable roles: All users
Prerequisites: An administrator has registered and enabled the extension in Extension Settings
An extension is a third-party sub-application embedded into the platform as an iframe, displayed as an independent icon on the left vertical navigation bar. It lets the platform connect to business systems the company already has, without rebuilding those systems.
1. What an Extension Is
| Feature | Description |
|---|---|
| Entry point | In the middle of the left vertical navigation bar, separated by a divider from "Workspace" |
| Presentation | An independent web application embedded in the main interface |
| Source | Registered by an administrator in Extension Settings, pointing to an absolute URL |
| Enable toggle | Controlled by administrators. Once enabled it is visible to all users; once disabled the icon disappears |
| Data ownership | The data is managed by the sub-application's own backend, does not enter the OpenPartner database, and does not occupy the platform workspace |
Which extensions are available?
Extensions are deployment-level configuration, so the applications registered differ between companies and between environments. This manual only explains the general mechanism of extensions and does not enumerate specific extensions — the icons actually on your navigation bar depend on your administrator's configuration. To learn what a particular extension does, ask the owner of that application or the platform administrator for a description.
2. How to Use It
- Click the extension icon on the left navigation bar
- The sub-application opens inside the main interface and can be used side by side with the workspace conversation area
- Close it or switch back to another navigation item to return to the main interface
In-app navigation, buttons, and keyboard shortcuts are all defined by the sub-application itself and are unrelated to the main interface of the platform.
3. The Extension Icon Is Missing
| Symptom | Cause | Resolution |
|---|---|---|
| There is only a divider in the middle of the navigation bar, with no icon | No extensions are enabled in the current environment | Contact the administrator to confirm whether any extensions are available |
| The icon used to be there, but it is gone now | The administrator disabled the extension | Contact the administrator to confirm the reason it was disabled |
| The icon is there, but clicking it does nothing | The sub-application service is unreachable, or the URL is misconfigured | Contact the administrator |
4. It Will Not Open or Displays Incorrectly
| Symptom | Cause | Resolution |
|---|---|---|
| Blank page | The address the extension URL points to is unreachable, or no absolute URL is used | Contact the administrator |
| The page is not displayed in full | The browser window is too narrow | Widen the window; the sub-application adapts to it |
| A message says you have no permission / no access | The extension has its own admission group and you are not in it | Contact the administrator to adjust your group |
| It gets stuck loading after it opens | The backend of the sub-application responds slowly | Refresh and retry; contact the administrator if the problem persists |
Note · Extensions are independently deployed services, and their availability is not guaranteed by OpenPartner. The platform side is only responsible for forwarding requests correctly.
5. Relationship Between Extensions and Platform Features
| Dimension | Built-in Platform Features | Extensions |
|---|---|---|
| Examples | Workspace, Assets, Settings, Administration | Various business subsystems |
| Code ownership | The OpenPartner platform | Third-party / customer-developed |
| Data storage | Platform database + user workspace | The backend of the sub-application itself |
| Permission model | Platform groups + resource grants | The admission rules of the sub-application itself |
| Availability | Guaranteed by the platform | Guaranteed by the deployer |
